Services & Rates
Let your mind drift and your body relax with this session. Some therapeutic work (such as releasing spasms) will occur but overall this session is meant to be smooth and flowing. Swedish Massage techniques such as petrissage and efflurage (kneading and long and flowing) will predominate this type of massage. It is not uncommon for clients to fall asleep on the table during a Relaxation Massage.
The benefits of this type of bodywork are wide-ranging and include relief from aches and pains, decreased stress levels in the body, enhanced mental clarity, decreased anxiety, and greater flexibility.
Other techniques in addition Swedish will be used in a relaxation session to help you achieve the best results possible. Pressure used will range from gentle to moderate depending on your preferences and needs.
Deep Tissue Massage (different from deep pressure!) is a form of bodywork that is a highly effective method for releasing chronic stress areas due to misalignment, repetitive motions, and past lingering injuries. Due to the nature of the work, open communication during the session is crucial to make sure you don't get too uncomfortable. This means more frequent inquiries about pressure from me as well as you needing to speak up if anything we're doing is causing pain. Soreness can occur after the treatment.
Various techniques will be used in a therapeutic session to address your specific issues and pressure preferences such as myofascial release, trigger point, and neuromuscular release work.
Because a therapeutic session is aimed at problem solving you may not recieve a full body massage. The focus of the massage will be on resolving your discomfort(s).
Please keep in mind that the saying "no pain, no gain" does NOT apply in massage therapy. If anything being done goes beyond a "it is uncomfortable but feels good" sensation or the "yikes that hurts but wow it's easing up so fast" pain of trigger point work then please let your therapist know they need to lighten up. It is important for you as a client to know that this is information your therapist needs.

CranioSacral Therapy is a gentle yet powerful technique that is effective in releasing neck pain, back pain, and mental stress (among other things). It does this by optimizing the movement of cerebrospinal fluid through the spine and around the skull. Developed by physician William Sutherland and researched and expanded upon by Dr. John Upledger, this therapy provides a very soothing and relaxing healing experience.
Lymphatic Drainage Therapy aims to gently and rhythmically move the lymph through the body, especially swollen areas of the body, relieving pressure and enhancing the functioning of the immune system. As both a preventative and remedial technique, LD can be used for a wide range of purposes including faster recovery from injury, reduction of swelling, and strengthened resistance to illness.
Reiki is a Japanese form of energy work that cleanses and balances the energy system in the body. As a result, the body's natural self-healing mechanisms strengthen, helping to establish optimum health. Reiki utilizes a gentle laying on of hands to conduct the necessary energy force between us. The benefits of Reiki range from the release of habitual mental/emotional stress to alleviating chronic pain. Reiki is performed fully clothed with a very light touch. Clients often feel a gentle pulsing or heat during this relaxing bodywork.
